The purpose of PETS is to establish the extent of delays and leakages in the budget execution system, and how these problems impact on service delivery. This training will introduce a variety of issues that are commonly addressed in the tracking of public expenditures in a country as well as issues that are specific to the education and health sectors. In addition, the training will provide an overview of the full range of tools that are currently used to track public expenditure. Whenever possible, relevant case studies from other countries will be discussed.

- To help participants examine and be able to deal with various obstacles to effective public expenditure management
- To provide a full range of tools that are used to analyse public expenditure
- To expose participants to issues that are pertinent to their countries and help them to use available approached to solve them
- To explore efficiency and equity aspects, as well as cost effectiveness of public
- expenditure.
